INFORMATION:

Latela Curatorial is pleased to exhibit local artist Madison Bolls at the Industrious DC office. Madison is an award-winning artist and curator from Washington, DC. She is best known for using of the written word as the basis for layered, multivalent paintings that reveal the subjectivity of both image and text when they’re taken out of their original contexts and layered together.

Inspired by movement, nature, life, and death, she manipulates paint and other found materials around book pages to allow the viewer to experience words in a new way. Words are powerful tools, and using them in visual art often changes their meaning, as well as the meaning of the painting itself. Her paintings take viewers on a journey, where they can make with their own unique interpretations of these works through a palimpsest of image, word, and texture.

This exhibition is curated by Latela Curatorial. All artworks are available for sale. A reception and artist talk will be held at Industrious DC on Thursday, November 14 at 4pm.

Madison Bolls. September 19-December 19, 2019 at Industrious DC (One Thomas Circle, Washington DC 20005, 202.464.2332). Viewing hours are Mondays through Fridays 8:30am-5pm, no appointment necessary.
