Latela Curatorial is proud to host The Human Condition, a mixed media group exhibition. The "human condition" is defined as "the characteristics, key events, and situations which compose the essentials of human existence, such as birth, growth, emotionality, aspiration, conflict, and mortality." This exhibition presents a patchwork media that represent fleeting moments, feelings, and various identities that we present in our everyday life. While individually, they may contradict, clash, or disguise, but their collective defines us as humans, and as artists.
The Human Condition is curated by Madison Bolls, a DC artist and 2019 Curatorial Assistant Apprentice at the Latela Curatorial. After participating as a featured artist in our Annual Collage Exhibition the past three years in a row (2016-2018), Madison is honored to curate Latela Curatorial’s 2019 Collage Exhibition. Her own award-winning work in mixed media painting has been exhibited throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. She appreciates the story-telling qualities of mixed media, as the juxtaposition of images and textures allow the viewer to go on their own personal journeys.
